The 2 bedroom apartment is a part of the property Le Ginestre di Greppolischieto, a medieval borgo or village newly created in the hills in the vicinity of Perugia in Umbria. Constructed new in the last 3 years, Le Ginestre was built around the existing ruins of a medieval period farmhouse and is named for the period castle of Greppolischieto located just down the road.

    The Hen House is a 2 bedroom apartment in a building of 7 apartments. Each apartment has a private entry and gardens. The Hen House is on the corner with private gardens front and back, perfect for al fresco dining. The front garden is paved with flagstones and has a large mosaic table, armchairs and large umbrella for taking meals outside. The back garden is enclosed with rustic fencing and is landscaped with fruit trees and fragrant plantings indigenous to the region of Umbria. In the summer months there is a communal swimming pool. A day of sightseeing in the famous hill towns of Umbria ends perfectly with an afternoon swim and a relaxing evening at home. This part of Umbria has a wealth of offerings for the art lover, historian, naturalist, and appreciator of truly excellent food and wine alike. Umbria is known all over Italy for its simple, of the earth, cuisine. “Ahh....you eat very well in Umbria” is a sigh expressed by Italians residing all over the world.

    Perugia, the capital of the region, is 25 kms from Le Ginestre. Lake Trasimeno, the 4th largest lake in Italy, is less than 30 minutes drive away. Here there are historic towns, boating, and beaches. The famous towns of Assisi, Spello, Spoleto, and Cortona, just over the border in Tuscany, are all in easy reach.

     The grounds of Le Ginestre are all open for your exploring. There are nearby hiking and biking trails. The house is supplied with firewood but we always encourage picking up some kindling as you take an early morning walk.
